PALS (Perimeter Adult Learning & Services), formed in 1991 and supported by local religious institutions as well as local non-profits and merchants, in its 28th year of stimulating educational classes for senior adults. The Summer 2019 session is being held at the St Luke's Presbyterian Church. The classes are offered in three time slots, 10:00-11:00, 11:15-12:15, and 1:00-2:00. The cost is $50 for the entire session or $8 for a single day. Lunch can be purchased for $8.00 with advance reservations or can be brought from home.
Classes for this Summer session include: FINANCIAL PLANNING, FILM APPRECIATION, TRAVEL, MAH JONG, MAH JONG FOR BEGINNERS, ESTATE PLANNING, THE HOLY LAND REVISITED, LOCAL AUTHORS, POLITICAL ROUND UP, OPEN BRIDGE FOR EXPERIENCED PLAYERS. Past classes, many of which are repeated every few years because of their popularity, have included estate and financial planning, home repairs, gardening, area museums, the Presidents, music and art appreciation, travelogues and the annual Great Decisions forum. Most speakers are retired professionals who speak on their area of expertise, with many having a strong following from year to year. The Program Committee is always interested in hearing from participants about other topics of interest and future speakers.
